A second ward on the same instrument design pointed at the MCP registry instead of at x402 doors: it counts registrations and records when a host stops being listed, and it shares no total with the x402 side.

The store's other ward walks x402 doors once a week. This one walks the official MCP registry on the same design and with one deliberate difference: it counts, and it does not knock.

Enumeration is nearly free and tells us something probing cannot: a host that was listed and is now listed nowhere is a delisting we can record having never spent a request on it.

A pass is running now: 160 registry pages read, 16,000 rows seen, 4,863 unique hosts so far. Passes run in hourly batches on a stored cursor because the registry is far larger than one invocation can read.

No pass has completed yet, so there is nothing to report. That is a fact about this ward's age, not about the registry.

What this is not

Not a verdict on any MCP server and not a health check on one. This ward COUNTS: it reads a public registry and records which hosts are listed, when each first appeared, and when one stops being listed. Nothing here knocks on an MCP server, so nothing here says whether one works. A host absent from this list may be perfectly healthy and simply not registered.

What it cannot see

These totals share nothing with the x402 ward. That population is doors; this one is MCP servers. Adding them gives a number that is about nothing, which is why neither page ever quotes the other's denominator. The x402 side is at /sources and /ledger.

What this costs

Nothing here costs money and no MCP verdict is for sale, because none exists: this ward enumerates and does not probe, so there is no reading to price.
